{"id":167138,"date":"2026-04-16T02:24:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T02:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/167138\/"},"modified":"2026-04-16T02:24:28","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T02:24:28","slug":"new-vehicle-of-interest-idd-in-erie-hit-and-run-that-left-toddler-dead-in-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/167138\/","title":{"rendered":"New vehicle of interest ID&#8217;d in Erie hit\u2011and\u2011run that left toddler dead in road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ERIE, Colo. \u2014 Investigators with the Erie Police Department said Wednesday they are seeking the driver of a second vehicle of interest in connection with a hit-and-run that left a 2-year-old child dead in a roadway earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>A motorist came upon the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denver7.com\/news\/front-range\/erie\/two-year-old-dies-in-hit-and-run-crash-in-erie-sunday-afternoon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Feb. 15 hit-and-run<\/a> shortly after it happened and stopped upon seeing the child lying in the road near Mountain View Boulevard and Village Vista Drive, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>First-responders attempted life-saving measures, but the toddler, whose identity remains unreleased, was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s unclear from police whether the child was on foot or in a vehicle at the time of the collision.<\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1776306267_59_.png\" alt=\"erie hit and run.png\"  width=\"1280\" height=\"720\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Erie Pd<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, police identified a white Cadillac Escalade as a second vehicle of interest. It was seen near the car wash at Village Vista Drive and Highway 7 about 10 minutes before the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Police urge anyone who was near the car wash around 4:30 p.m. that day to contact them at 303-926-2825.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the investigation, detectives contacted a <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denver7.com\/news\/crime\/erie-pd-vehicle-of-interest-in-hit-and-run-idd-after-2-year-old-found-dead-on-road\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">driver and vehicle of interest<\/a>, but are waiting on lab results, which expected in several weeks.
