And <a href=\"https:\/\/awaacc.org\/exhibition\/shaheed-rucker-recovering-the-iconic\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u201cShaheed Rucker: (re)Covering the Iconic\u201d<\/a> is a display of Rucker\u2019s art reimagining Wheaties boxes and Jet magazine covers with Black cultural icons from Josh Gibson and Roberto Clemente to August Wilson himself. \u201cHBCU\u201d runs Thu., April 16 through April 26, and the Rucker show opens Wed., April 22. Admission is free.<\/p>\n<p>Dance<br \/>Bodiography premieres founding director <a href=\"https:\/\/kelly-strayhorn.org\/events\/bodiographyarcadia\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Maria Caruso\u2019s new full-length ballet<\/a> at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater. \u201cArcadia\u201d is a sequel to Caruso\u2019s \u201cEvensong\u201d that builds on its themes of \u201ctransformation and human connection.\u201d The company performs the work to a soundscape by Kevin Keller. It gets three performances Fri., April 17, through Sunday\u2019s matinee.<\/p>\n<p>Visual art<br \/>Still sailing under the banner \u201cNo Fee. No Jury. No Censorship,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artallnight.org\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Art All Night returns<\/a> for its 29th year of crowd-sourced paintings, sculptures and more in big borrowed spaces. This year, thousands of visitors will see hundreds of works by artists of all ages and skill levels, watch live painting, hear live music and more at Rockwell Park, in Point Breeze. The round-the-clock fun starts at 4 p.m. Sat., April 18, and runs through 2 p.m. Sun., April 19. Admission remains free.<\/p>\n<p>Film<br \/>An evening of new silent short films by local artists, set to original soundtracks performed live: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/syncd-9-tickets-1982907156684\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Sync\u2019d 9<\/a> takes over Carnegie Mellon\u2019s Melwood Screening Room, in North Oakland. The long-running annual series features films by the likes of Noam Di Giulio, Zahra El Ansary and Nasty Taxi. The music is by audio-visual artist Chris Cannon and three-piece instrumental band The Long Hunt. The show is the evening of Sat., April 18, and admission is free.<\/p>\n<p>Festival<br \/>True to the spirit of its namesake artist\u2019s well-populated Millvale murals, <a href=\"https:\/\/vankamurals.org\/events-activities\/vanka-block-party-2026\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the annual Maxo Vanka Block Party<\/a> packs a lot into its four hours. Outdoors, there\u2019s an art tent (LEGO printmaking, spraypainting and more), DJs, snacks and drinks; inside St. Nicholas Croatian Catholic Church, beneath the gaze of Vanko\u2019s visionary artworks, Croatian folk records will spin alongside a kids\u2019 scavenger hunt, a performance by the Rankin Junior Tamburitzans, and a chance to talk to docents and conservators. It all kicks off at noon Sun., April 19, and admission is free.<\/p>\n<p>Music<br \/>Heads up, Pittsburgh: NFL draft festivities begin next week. Officially, the four days of events kick off Wed., April 22, with VisitPITTSBURGH\u2019s sprawling PicksBURGH Music Crawl. After a ribbon-cutting in the revamped Market Square, more than a dozen venues Downtown, on the North Shore and beyond will host an evening-length festival of jazz, rock, pop, metal, EDM and more. Spots include Con Alma, Club Cafe, the Park House, the Thunderbird Cafe and many more.
