The ticket is normally $20.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cWe are not going to be doing anything like that &#8230; no premium pricing,\u201d SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch said.<\/p>\n<p>N.J. plans<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">NJ Transit has not confirmed that plan. New Jersey Gov. <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/topic\/mikie-sherrill\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mikie Sherrill<\/a> (D.) insists that state commuters and taxpayers will not get stuck with the cost. A news conference is scheduled for Friday to announce the state\u2019s World Cup transit plan. <\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">MetLife Stadium, home field of the Giants and the Jets, will host eight World Cup games this summer, including the July 19 final match.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cFIFA is making $11 billion off this World Cup, while charging fans up to $10,000 [for] a single ticket for the final,\u201d said Stephen Sigmund, spokesperson for Sherrill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cThey should be paying for rides, but if they don\u2019t, Gov. Sherrill isn\u2019t going to let New Jersey get taken for one,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">FIFA is not paying extra transportation expenses to host communities, and it will cost NJ Transit $48 million to move 40,000 people, more than four times the number it carries for a normal stadium event, Sigmund said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Boston\u2019s World Cup host committee <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7194383\/2026\/04\/14\/boston-to-charge-95-for-bus-to-gillette-stadium-during-the-world-cup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7194383\/2026\/04\/14\/boston-to-charge-95-for-bus-to-gillette-stadium-during-the-world-cup\/\">also announced it will charge $95 for charter bus service to Gillette Stadium<\/a>, according to the Athletic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">In part for security reasons, regular stadium parking lots will not be available. Open spaces at the American Dream mall next to the stadium will be extremely limited, Sigmund said. <\/p>\n<p>How SEPTA is planning for the World Cup<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Busch said SEPTA will have extra trains serving the sports complex for the games, but anyone can ride the BSL at any time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cWe\u2019re having regular service hours and open stations,\u201d Busch said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">The transit agency received <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/transportation\/septa-federal-money-enhanced-service-world-cup-250th-20260304.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/transportation\/septa-federal-money-enhanced-service-world-cup-250th-20260304.html\">a $5.5 million grant<\/a> that will cover the cost of overtime for running extra trains, he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">Philadelphia is hosting six World Cup matches.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">SEPTA also has a plan for what may be an even larger service challenge, moving people to and from the<a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/phillyfwc26.com\/fifa-fan-fest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/phillyfwc26.com\/fifa-fan-fest\"> FIFA Fan Festival<\/a>, at Lemon Hill in East <a class=\"relative z-1 text-blue-mid hover:shadow-lightmode\" data-link-type=\"article-body\" href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/topic\/fairmount\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fairmount<\/a> Park, from June 11 to July 19.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">The transit agency is adding additional buses on seven routes that serve the area: 7, 32, 38, 43, 48, 49 and G1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inq-p text-primary  \">\u201cWe estimate we will be able to add 1,400 additional passenger seats per hour, which is more than could be provided by shuttle service,\u201d Busch said.
