High: 88

TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy and mild with an isolated shower. Low: 62

FRIDAY: Partly sunny and warm. High: 80 Low: 55

THE BIG PICTURE

Forecasted highs will hit the upper 80s in the Lehigh Valley and 90° in Reading for Thursday which will be near record highs once again. Temperatures will come down a little Friday, to the lower 80s, and the week will close mainly dry. As we head into the weekend, highs Saturday will climb to the upper 70s and the day will be largely dry. As a stronger cold front moves through as early as Saturday night, it’ll bring a better chance for wet weather. Sunday will also feature a few showers, possibly a t-storm and cooler temperatures in the upper 60s. Next week, once cooler air fills in behind the front, temperatures will be more seasonable in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

FORECAST DETAILS

THURSDAY

Unseasonably warm highs continue Thursday, as much as 25 degrees warmer than our average high for mid-April (which is only in the low 60s). Thursday will feature partly sunny skies and just as the last few days, a stray shower or thunderstorm is possible tonight.

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

The front up to our north may finally slide south in our direction on Friday for a day, and then lift back north for Saturday. We’ll likely squarely remain on the warmer side of things for these two days, with highs around 80°. With the front close by on Friday, much of the day remains mainly dry but there may be a spotty shower. As the front lifts back north on Saturday, expect a mix of clouds and sunshine with the June-like warmth continuing through the start of the weekend. An approaching cold front will bring scattered showers as early as late Saturday.

SUNDAY

On Sunday, a stronger cold front will come out of the Great Lake and slide east in our direction. This will mark the end of our taste of summer, as clouds and showers out ahead of the front on Sunday will be followed by brisk winds and a return to much cooler temperatures behind the front starting Monday. Highs will likely be in the 60s depending on the timing of the front, with mostly cloudy skies and some showers currently expected (though not a washout).

EARLY NEXT WEEK

Behind our late weekend front, it will be drier early next week, but also much cooler and rather breezy on Monday, before high pressure slowly builds in. Highs may only be in the 50s next Monday, with partly sunny skies and that aforementioned brisk breeze adding a chill to an already much cooler day than what we were spoiled with leading up to this. Afternoon highs will likely grow back to near 60 degrees by Tuesday while continuing to stay day.

TODAY: Partly to mostly sunny and warm with near record highs (90).
