(WHTM) \u2013 Pennsylvania\u2019s unemployment rate dropped to 4.2% in February, according to the state\u2019s Department of Labor & Industry. It\u2019s two-tenths of a point better than the national unemployment rate of 4.4%.<\/p>\n
The state\u2019s unemployment is down one-tenth of a point from the month prior, and one-tenth up from its rate in February 2025.<\/p>\n

Employment was up by 7,000 workers, and unemployment declined by 2,000 workers from January.<\/p>\n Jobs\u00a0did, however, decrease in 8 of the 11 industry supersectors in February, with the largest declines being in trade, transportation & utilities, and education & health services (-5,900 each).<\/p>\n Many of those supersectors are up in the state year-over-year, with the largest gain being in education and health services, adding 28,500 jobs.<\/p>\n Additional information is available on the L&I website<\/a>.<\/p>\n Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
