{"id":169355,"date":"2026-04-18T13:02:21","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T13:02:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/169355\/"},"modified":"2026-04-18T13:02:21","modified_gmt":"2026-04-18T13:02:21","slug":"driver-flees-crash-scene-in-wilmington-delaware-nbc10-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/169355\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver flees crash scene in Wilmington, Delaware \u2013 NBC10 Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A driver fled the scene of a crash that left one person hospitalized, several utility poles sheared, and multiple homes damaged along a street in Wilmington, Delaware, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, April 16, 2026, in the afternoon, firefighters responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of East 23rd Street and North Market Street, according to the Wilmington Fire Department.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telemundo62.com\/noticias\/local\/accidente-vehicular-calles-23rd-north-market-wilmington-delaware\/2574688\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">L\u00e9elo en espa\u00f1ol aqu\u00ed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival, officials said Battalion Chief Griff Jordan found that an SUV had struck a vehicle, then overturned multiple times onto East 23rd Street. The SUV had sheared off two utility poles, bringing down multiple power lines, and then struck three rowhomes on the block, causing structural damage to two of them.<\/p>\n<p>Surveillance video shared exclusively with NBC10 showed the SUV speeding down the street just moments before the crash.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/speeding-car-55.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>Officials reported that the gas meters of the houses were damaged, leading to a natural gas leak.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the SUV escaped from the vehicle and fled the scene, according to officials.
