The Erie County Health Department\/Erie County Community Health Center recently hosted the Cleveland Clinic Mammogram Bus and provided screenings to women aged 42 and older.<\/p>\n
This mobile unit brings high-quality diagnostic technology directly to the community, removing barriers to essential preventative health care, according to a news release.<\/p>\n
This successful collaboration has been on-going for many years, the release said.<\/p>\n
At the April 14 event, 10 women received critical screenings that might otherwise have been inaccessible, according to the release.<\/p>\n
These mobile health events remove cost barriers and assists patients with any out of pocket costs, the release said.<\/p>\n
Annual mammograms remain the most effective tool in the fight against breast cancer.<\/p>\n
Early detection through regular screening significantly increases the range of treatment options and improves long-term outcomes.<\/p>\n
\u201cEarly detection is not just a medical recommendation; it is a life-saving necessity,\u201d said Peter T. Schade, Erie County Health commissioner, in the release. \u201cBringing the Cleveland Clinic\u2019s expertise to our front door ensures that every woman in our county has the opportunity to take charge of her health.\u201d<\/p>\n
The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that clinical excellence is available to all residents, regardless of their proximity to a traditional hospital setting, the release said.<\/p>\n
\u201cProviding this type of care directly to our residents is vital,\u201d said Heather Westcott, RN, senior chief clinical officer, in the release. \u201cMobile health services meet people where they are, providing a comfortable and convenient environment for essential care.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is about closing the gap in healthcare access and ensuring our community stays healthy and informed.\u201d<\/p>\n
For those who were unable to attend the April 14 session, the Cleveland Clinic Mammogram Bus is scheduled to return to the Erie County Health Department on Nov. 18, according to the release.<\/p>\n
