{"id":169685,"date":"2026-04-18T22:56:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T22:56:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/169685\/"},"modified":"2026-04-18T22:56:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-18T22:56:13","slug":"easton-area-power-outage-caused-by-crash-affects-2300-customers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/169685\/","title":{"rendered":"Easton area power outage caused by crash affects 2,300 customers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Power has been restored to more than 2,000 Met-Ed customers after an outage Thursday evening in the Easton area.<\/p>\n<p>WFMZ-TV reported that a car crashed into a utility pole in the area of Wood Avenue and North 17th Street in Wilson around 5:30 p.m., causing a transformer to catch fire.<\/p>\n<p>At the peak of the outages, more than 2,300 Met-Ed customers in Wilson and Easton were without power, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfmz.com\/news\/area\/lehighvalley\/northampton-county\/easton-area\/transformer-blow-leaves-over-2-000-without-electricity-in-northampton-county\/article_ac43121b-8bc9-4ad8-90ec-89582c61a328.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">according to the report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Photos shared to social media showed traffic lights out at the busy intersection of Wood Avenue and Northampton Street.<\/p>\n<p>By around 7:45 p.m., the number of outages was down to around 1,500 Met-Ed customers.
