A plane with a reported threat landed safely at Pittsburgh International Airport Saturday, according to FBI Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n
United Airlines Flight 2092 departed from Chicago O\u2019Hare International Airport and was traveling to LaGuardia Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said.<\/p>\n
It was diverted after the crew reported \u201ca possible security issue\u201d and landed in Pittsburgh around 11:45 a.m. Saturday, according to the FAA.<\/p>\n
Allegheny County police said in a statement that the department\u2019s explosive ordnance disposal team was requested and did not find anything in a sweep of the aircraft, passengers and luggage.<\/p>\n
\u201cSafety and security is always the top priority at Pittsburgh International Airport. Our emergency crews responded quickly to the reported incident,\u201d said Bob Kerlik, airport spokesman. \u201cOur teams activated to assist the crew in evacuating the aircraft and transported the passengers safely to the terminal.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to explosive device team, multiple county police dogs trained in explosives detection were sent to the airport, Kerlik said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe plane has been screened with negative results and law enforcement has cleared the scene,\u201d Kerlik said. \u201cPassengers have been rebooked on another aircraft and will continue to their destination.\u201d<\/p>\n
FBI Pittsburgh also said in a statement it was aware of a \u201creported threat onboard a flight headed to New York.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAll passengers and crew safely evacuated the aircraft,\u201d the FBI said.<\/p>\n
FBI special agent bomb technicians were coordinating with local authorities, according to FBI Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n
The FBI said the investigation is ongoing. The FAA said information is preliminary and subject to change.<\/p>\n
