RICHMOND TWP., Pa. – One person is dead and multiple others injured after a serious crash Monday morning on Route 222 near the Kutztown Road overpass.<\/p>\n
Just before 11 a.m., Fleetwood Police and several emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were dispatched out of here approximately 10:52 this morning for a multi-vehicle accident,\u201d said Chief Dale Ulshafer of the Fleetwood Police Department.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they found three vehicles involved. One had flipped over the bridge. Several passengers were ejected. One person died at the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe arrived to find multiple injuries and one deceased,\u201d Ulshafer confirmed.<\/p>\n
Police say a vehicle traveling southbound crossed the grassy median and collided with two vehicles headed northbound.<\/p>\n
\u201cSouthbound on 222\u2026 crossed over the grassy median into the northbound lane and made contact with two vehicles,\u201d said Ulshafer.<\/p>\n
The car that crossed the median suffered the worst of the impact. It flipped off the overpass, resulting in critical injuries and the fatality. The people in the other two vehicles had minor injuries.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe southbound vehicle that crossed over had multiple injuries\u2026 most of them critical\u2026 and one fatality,\u201d Ulshafer said.<\/p>\n
The Berks County Crash Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe county crash team\u2026 which is comprised of different departments from all over the county,\u201d Ulshafer added.<\/p>\n
