PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 A corrections officer with the Philadelphia Department of Prisons was killed in a motorcycle crash early Friday morning in Northeast Philly.<\/p>\n
Officials told our newsgathering partners at NBC10 that Sgt. Devon Williams was on his way to work shortly before 7 a.m. when he crashed his motorcycle on Cottman Avenue near Walker Street in the city’s Holmesburg neighborhood.<\/p>\n
He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.<\/p>\n
Officials said Williams was a 10-year veteran of the Philadelphia Department of Prisons and was assigned to the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center as a staff deployment supervisor.<\/p>\n
