Sunshine, community spirit, and a shared commitment to sustainability brought residents together Saturday for Upper Darby\u2019s Earth Day Community Celebration at GreenHorn Gardens at Arlington Cemetery.<\/p>\n

A news release by Christen Cooper, the co-chair of the Upper Darby EAC continues:<\/p>\n

Hosted by the Upper Darby Environmental Advisory Committee in partnership with the GreenHorn Initiative, the event marked the first collaboration between the organizations, with plans to make it an annual tradition.<\/p>\n

Attendees, including Mayor Ed Brown and members of township council, participated in hands-on activities and environmental education, including:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Pollinator garden design demonstrations inside the greenhouse.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Birdwatching demonstrations by the Birding Group of Delaware County.<\/p>\n

\u2022 A \u201cseed bomb\u201d make-and-take activity and children\u2019s crafts.<\/p>\n

\u2022 A guided walking tour of historic Arlington Cemetery.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Information on creating pollinator-friendly spaces at home.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis event truly reflects the power of community collaboration,\u201d said organizers from the EAC. \u201cIt was inspiring to see residents of all ages come out to learn, connect, and celebrate Earth Day together.\u201d<\/p>\n

The celebration highlighted Upper Darby\u2019s growing commitment to sustainability, education, and environmental stewardship.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an incredible green team effort led by the Upper Darby Environmental Advisory Committee and partners at GreenHorn Gardens and The GreenHorn Initiative,\u201d Cooper said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were proud to be joined by Tree Tenders of Upper Darby, Upper Darby Rain Gardens, the Birding Group of Delaware County, members of the Lower Merion Conservancy, the Pennsylvania Resource Council and Murphy\u2019s Giving Market, each bringing their own energy, expertise, and passion to help make the day such a success,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
