SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE\/WYOU) \u2014 A new addition in a local park is helping people reconnect with the region\u2019s first residents. A crowd gathered at Nay Aug Park inside the Greenhouse Project as a new sign was unveiled, honoring the Lenape people and their deep connection to the land.<\/p>\n

The sign highlights the history of the Lenape, the Indigenous people who lived in this region long before European colonization.<\/p>\n

Students, locals celebrate annual block party <\/a><\/p>\n

The event featured a cultural program followed by a dedication ceremony led by Lenape elder Curtis Zunigha.<\/p>\n

Visitors learned about traditional practices like growing corn, beans, and squash, took part in storytelling, and planting Indigenous seeds.<\/p>\n
