With that, we&#8217;re closing that equity gap on the map where maybe there aren&#8217;t as many trees in one area, and that just leads to long term&#8230;benefits like cooling neighborhoods, lowering violence, bringing local wildlife,&#8221; said Asha-Le Davis, Education &amp; Outreach Manager at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Those who supported the effort are called &#8220;Tree Tenders,&#8221; and are trained and educated to support the environment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">One of the Tree Tender groups is known as the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.phillytreepeople.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Philly Tree People;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;Philly Tree People&quot;}\" class=\"link \">Philly Tree People<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;It&#8217;s an honor to walk or drive around my neighborhood and see all these trees that I know that I helped get in the ground and care for,&#8221; said Jacelyn Bank, Vice President of the Philly Tree People.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">For more information, check out the video above.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society provided hundreds of trees for volunteers to plant this weekend.
