{"id":170663,"date":"2026-04-20T09:56:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T09:56:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/170663\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T09:56:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T09:56:07","slug":"2-wounded-in-early-morning-penn-hills-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/170663\/","title":{"rendered":"2 wounded in early-morning Penn Hills shooting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two people were wounded in an early-morning shooting Monday in Penn Hills.<\/p>\n<p>Allegheny County dispatchers said that two people were taken to the hospital following a shooting that happened around 2:40 a.m. Monday along Jefferson Road.<\/p>\n<p>KDKA&#8217;s news crew at the scene observed a large police presence with crime tape blocking off the area where investigators had placed numerous evidence markers.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/img-7054.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"img-7054.jpg \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  Two people were taken to the hospital following an early-morning shooting along Jefferson Road in Penn Hills.<\/p>\n<p>                KDKA Photojournalist Brian Smithmyer<\/p>\n<p>The identities and conditions of the people taken to the hospital are unknown at this time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s unclear at this time what led up to the shooting or if any arrests have been made.<\/p>\n<p>Monday&#8217;s shooting follows violent weekend in Pittsburgh area<\/p>\n<p>The early-morning incident in Penn Hills marks the fourth shooting in the region within the last 72 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, eight people were wounded in three separate shootings in and around the city of Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/mother-mourns-daughter-killed-braddock-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">One woman<\/a> was killed and two others were injured when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/early-morning-braddock-shooting-woman-killed\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">gunfire erupted<\/a> outside of Club Elegance in Braddock around 2 a.m. on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Around the same time, Pittsburgh Police were called to the city&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pittsburghpa.gov\/News-articles\/Public-Safety-Blotter\/VCD-Detectives-Investigate-Bedford-Dwellings-Homicide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Bedford Dwellings<\/a> neighborhood for a ShotSpotter alert along Chauncey Drive, where officers found an unresponsive man in a courtyard. The man died at the hospital. Another man was treated for a graze wound and a third man showed up at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.<\/p>\n<p>Hours later, Pittsburgh Police responded to the city&#8217;s Homewood neighborhood for a reported shooting along <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pittsburghpa.gov\/News-articles\/Public-Safety-Blotter\/Detectives-Investigate-Homewood-West-Double-Shooting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">North Dallas Avenue<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Responding officers said they found two men who had been shot in the abdomen and lower extremities.
