A boil water advisory remains in effect for approximately 580 Pennsylvania American Water customers in parts of Clarks Green and South Abington Twp., PAW External Affairs Manager Susan Turcmanovich said.<\/p>\n
Pennsylvania American Water experienced a loss in positive water pressure on Sunday, due to an issue at a booster pump station, which could allow contamination to enter the distribution system through backflow by back-pressure or back-siphonage, PAW officials said.<\/p>\n
Pennsylvania American Water issued the advisory just before 9 p.m. Sunday and must collect two sets of samples 24 hours apart before lifting it, Turcmanovich said. She added samples are read 24 hours after they are collected. The booster pump issue has been corrected and service has been restored. Customers will be informed when they no longer need to boil their water at .<\/p>\n
Customers should boil water for one minute and let it cool before using; or use bottled water, under further notice for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation PAW officials said.<\/p>\n
Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms including bacteria, viruses and parasites, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and headaches, officials said.<\/p>\n
This notice applies to customers along the following streets in Clarks Green and South Abington Twp.:<\/p>\n
