As a finance and accounting major, she said she was happy to see the number of items being sold and how events like this can spark creativity and make opportunities for others to start their own businesses.<\/p>\n
The vendors were also happy to showcase their products. Lauren Witmer, the co-owner of Pretty Little Link, a permanent jewelry business, said everybody was supportive and excited about the market. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Pretty Little Link\u2019s stand featured a variety of bracelets and necklaces that are custom-fit to customers on site.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe energy feels good,\u201d said Alon Hogan, the co-owner of Pretty Little Link.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Witmer and Hogan both said they appreciated the event\u2019s focus on uplifting women, as they are new business owners who believe supporting other local female-run businesses is essential to building community. They were also eager to introduce their jewelry to Lehigh students.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Brianna Grady, \u201827, the president of the Women\u2019s Network, said it was the organization\u2019s first time hosting the market, and the goal was not just for businesses to make sales, but also to foster connections.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cWhile people are waiting in line for a vendor, they can chat and learn about each business,\u201d Grady said. \u201cIt\u2019s all about interacting and building community.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said the group looks forward to expanding the event in the future, hoping to invite more vendors and advertise to reach more people.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sam Blasbalg, \u201828, the Women\u2019s Network vice president of marketing, said the market appealed to a different demographic of buyers, apart from those who frequent Farrington Square\u2019s farmers market held weekly on Thursdays.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She said she definitely noticed a strong female presence among buyers.<\/p>\n
Wajiha Rizvi, \u201827, the Women\u2019s Network\u2019s vice president, said if small businesses are catered toward students they can do well, emphasizing the importance of convenience given that those on campus often don\u2019t have access to a car.<\/p>\n
Blasbalg said the market catered to students by creating an easy and accessible buying experience through bringing businesses together in one central area on campus.<\/p>\n
For small business owners in the Lehigh Valley area, Hogan said success takes time and determination.<\/p>\n
