In a move that feels more midwinter than mid-April, Camelback Resort in Pennsylvania is turning the snow guns on once again.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019re making snow tonight. On April 20. In Pennsylvania,” Jason Bays, Vice President and General Manager of Camelback Resort, shared a letter to the community. <\/p>\n
The announcement comes as Camelback, the largest ski resort in the Poconos, pushes beyond its longest operating season on record, a milestone that dates back to the resort\u2019s opening in 1963. <\/p>\n
Rather than winding down for spring, the resort has leaned into the extended season.<\/p>\n
“You won\u2019t find us posting about flowers blooming and the last snowflakes melting out on the mountain here,” Bays added. <\/p>\n
The decision to resume snowmaking, is rooted in both practical and community-driven reasons.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, it might sound a little crazy. And yes\u2026we probably are.\u201d Bays acknowledged. <\/p>\n
Bays shares that the turnout of visitors have been incredible this spring, and the company is staying committed to the longest season. <\/p>\n
Most importantly of all, Bays said, “And honestly\u2026this is just fun for our team, for me, and for this community.”<\/p>\n
