A 41-year-old Long Pond man faces charges after state police found drugs in his vehicle following a traffic stop Thursday afternoon in Lackawanna County, according to a criminal complaint,<\/p>\n
Trooper Christopher Isbitski stopped a 2016 Infiniti GX8 with a New York registration around 3:31 p.m. along Interstate 81 in Greenfield Twp. for a suspended registration and a following-too-closely violation, police said.<\/p>\n
Police identified the driver and registered owner of the vehicle as Luis Eduardo Jimenez, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
Jimenez admitted that he did not have insurance on the vehicle, troopers said.<\/p>\n
After being granted consent to search the vehicle, troopers found a kilogram of cocaine and four bags of suspected cocaine inside a speaker in the car, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
Field tests of the substance in the containers yielded a positive indication for the presence of cocaine, troopers said.<\/p>\n
Jimenez, 201 Victory Lane, acknowledged ownership of the cocaine during a recorded interview and also provided a written statement, police said.<\/p>\n
Police charged Jimenez with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, operating a vehicle without required financial responsibility, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration and following too closely.<\/p>\n
As of Monday, Jimenez remained at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.<\/p>\n
