GREENSBORO, N.C. – A change at the top is coming at Mack Trucks.<\/p>\n

President Stephen Roy has announced his intention to retire.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The news comes from Volvo Group, Mack’s parent company, which said Wilson Lirmann, who’s currently heading Volvo Trucks Latin America, will take Roy’s place.<\/p>\n

The transition will take effect later this year on Aug. 1.<\/p>\n

Roy has spent nearly 25 years with the Volvo Group, including three as Mack Trucks president.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last year, he spoke with 69 News<\/a> about the storied truck maker’s 125th birthday, as well as modern-day challenges.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI am deeply grateful for Stephen\u2019s contributions over the years,\u201d says Martin Lundstedt, president and CEO of Volvo Group, in a news release. \u201cIn his different roles, Stephen has driven the platform for continued growth in North America, reinforcing our regional strategy and setting us up well for the next phase.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lirmann has led both Volvo Trucks Latin America and Volvo Group\u2019s Latin American business for nearly ten years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mack Trucks was based in Allentown for decades until 2009, when Volvo Group moved the company’s headquarters to\u00a0Greensboro, North Carolina.<\/p>\n

But the Bulldog still maintains a large presence in the Lehigh Valley;\u00a0the company\u2019s Lower Macungie plant, dubbed LVO (Lehigh Valley Operations), is the place where all Class 8 Mack trucks for North American and export markets are assembled.<\/p>\n

Also, Mack Defense, a\u00a0subsidiary of Mack Trucks, operates out of the Mack Experience Center (MEC) in Allentown.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"GREENSBORO, N.C. – A change at the top is coming at Mack Trucks.
