Mark the Buccaneers down as another team looking to move down on Thursday night, from their perch at No. 15. And I think they\u2019re positioned to pull it off. Behind them, you have the Lions at 17, Panthers at 19, Steelers at 21, Eagles at 23, Browns at 24 and Bears at 25 as teams that might need tackle help. And with a run on the position potentially looming over that alley of picks, the Bucs could give someone the opportunity to jump the line. Which, I think, is something to keep an eye on as we draw closer. [\u2026] And maybe it\u2019s just exploratory, but the Chiefs have at least made calls on the idea of moving up. Of course, they\u2019re right there with the Eagles and Rams, who\u2019ve also explored those ideas, that generally investigate all their options. So maybe it\u2019s just gotten other teams\u2019 attention this year because they have a pick in the top 10. And it would still surprise me if Kansas City wound up going all the way up to Nos. 3 or 4. But this is a rare spot for them, to be picking this high, so it makes sense that they\u2019d look at everything.<\/p>\n

Barrett Brooks, one of the stalwarts on NBC Sports Philadelphia\u2019s Eagles Postgame Live show, and who is as locked into major college football as anyone in the Philadelphia area, sees the Eagles going with an offensive lineman at pick No. 23. \u201cI see them going for the tackle from Alabama, Kadyn Proctor, at 23, if he still there,\u201d said Brooks, who calls college football games. \u201cHe\u2019s 6-foot-7, 355 pounds. If they could get Kenyon Sadiq, the tight end out of Oregon, I really like that pick, but from everything I see, it looks like he may be off the board by then. If they go defense, I like T.J. Parker out of Clemson. I think Proctor reminds the Eagles a lot of what they had before in Mekhi Becton (at right guard during the 2024 Super Bowl season). Proctor is big, and strong, and he would have a chance to develop next to Lane (Johnson), who I don\u2019t see retiring after this season or next. \u201cWhen Lane does retire, they kick Proctor out to right tackle. It fits.\u201d Proctor is projected to go somewhere in the middle to late teens by some respected mock drafts, and as late as the early 20s.<\/p>\n
My analysis: The Eagles have always prioritized their pass rush over the years and it\u2019s played a massive role in the franchise winning a pair of Super Bowl titles over the last decade. While the pass rushers in the highest tier have all been selected up to this point, Philadelphia still manages to nab Faulk who has been widely regarded as a raw-yet-toolsy prospect who earned immense grades in off-field areas such as leadership and character. It also helps that he\u2019s built like the perfect modern-day edge rusher at 6\u20196 and 276 pounds. That\u2019s the type of size that could be utilized both inside and out.<\/p>\n
Round 1: Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia (6\u20197, 315). TRADE: Eagles send pick No. 23 in 2026, as well as third- and fourth-round picks in 2027 to the Jets for pick No. 16. Freeling was a popular projection to the Eagles at pick 23, but there\u2019s little chance he\u2019ll make it that far after crushing the Combine. In pass pro, Freeling has excellent feet, and can easily mirror\/match opposing pass rushers. In the run game, he can execute difficult reach blocks, he\u2019s effective on combo blocks, and he has the athleticism to track down linebackers and defensive backs in space down the field. He also has some nastiness to his game, and experience playing LT and RT. I hadn\u2019t watched Freeling until his explosive Combine performance, but he is really good and the Eagles are certain to have interest.<\/p>\n
If Garrett Nussmeier somehow is available at pick 68, I could see the Eagles taking him. This isn\u2019t about finding someone to challenge Jalen Hurts or anything like that. I can just see the Eagles liking Nussmeier. I\u2019m sure they feel like they have a good perspective on him since his dad Doug was the OC for the Eagles in 2024. Nussmeier is good at working the middle of the field. He came from a system that is similar to a pro offense. He has good feet and can move around in the pocket. He could develop into a solid starting QB, but would make a good backup for the next few years.<\/p>\n
23) Philadelphia Eagles. Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State. Iheanachor is still relatively new to football, playing it for the first time in 2022. But he is one of the players with the biggest upside in the first round. Considering he is still growing and learning, this could be a home run for the Eagles if they are patient. Iheanachor could be the heir apparent to Lane Johnson, who turns 36 in a few weeks.<\/p>\n
23) EAGLES: Caleb Lomu. Blake Miller is a consistent target here for mock drafters, but Lomu is younger, has higher upside in pass protection and can play swing tackle in Year 1 as he learns from Lane Johnson.<\/p>\n
Look for the Eagles to focus on addressing the offense early in the draft \u2014 and not necessarily with the 2026 offense in mind. General manager Howie Roseman has been candid about the Eagles\u2019 desire to add more young, cost-controlled players on offense. They\u2019ve been so defense-heavy in the early rounds in recent years, and Roseman knows he must reverse that trend. It\u2019s worked out well for the GM, allowing him to field a young, inexpensive defense to balance the NFL\u2019s most expensive offense. But he\u2019s drafted so well that those players are set to earn second contracts with the team. Jordan Davis was the first. Jalen Carter, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt are among those who could be next in line. That means the Eagles\u2019 defense will get considerably more expensive during the next two to three years. An offense that will have at least four starters next season age 29 or older will soon turn over. The Eagles will start thinking about that this week. As much as the Eagles might need a starting safety, they\u2019re more likely to focus on an offensive lineman or a pass catcher. The Eagles could conceivably need three new starters on the offensive line in 2027. The future of the wide receiver depth chart is unclear. Same with tight end. Roseman knows as much. But there\u2019s only so much in Roseman\u2019s control. He cannot force a player to drop to their spot in the first or second round. Roseman has been aggressive with trades (more on this below), although a desired player needs to fall within range to trade.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know AJ personally. I played with him, he\u2019s an awesome teammate. He\u2019s an incredibly talented player. At the same time, you\u2019ve seen the frustrations over the last couple years. I don\u2019t know where he\u2019s at or where the teams is. Everything gets to a point where it\u2019s gonna come to an end and maybe it\u2019s at the point,\u201d Kelce said. \u201cAJ has clearly been frustrated and sometimes that frustrates the fans, but one thing I do find unique is that the players really haven\u2019t manifested in a negative way towards AJ, which lends me to think that a lot of people understand AJ\u2019s frustrations. I think AJ is a great player where if he is moved, the Eagles will miss him. He\u2019s not the reason the offense wasn\u2019t good last year,\u201d Kelce added.<\/p>\n
DE Brandon Graham. 2010, 13th overall pick. Howie Roseman didn\u2019t take long to establish himself as a dealmaker. Before his first pick as the Eagles\u2019 General Manager in 2010, he moved up 11 spots in the first round (from 24 to 13) in a trade with the Denver Broncos, sending back the Eagles\u2019 first-round pick and a pair of third-round selections. With the 13th overall pick, the Eagles chose defensive end Brandon Graham, now a two-time Super Bowl Champion and franchise legend. \u201cWhat I remember is that he was a two-time team captain at the University of Michigan,\u201d Roseman said. \u201cWatching the tape and preparing for that draft, we understood that there may be an opportunity to move up for him. We were thinking about how impactful he could be at the edge rushing position for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
A report on Monday indicated the Patriots are \u201clikely\u201d to acquire Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown in a trade after June 1. Patriots coach Mike Vrabel was asked about Adam Schefter\u2019s report on Tuesday. Vrabel initially asked what the report was. \u201cNo. I mean, I think we are going to continue to try to strengthen our team,\u201d Vrabel said, via Brian Hines of patspulpit.com. \u201cThe first focus is going to be on Thursday night and making sure that we get that right, and then we\u2019ll focus on Friday. Saturday is always an important day.<\/p>\n
It is possible that this is all fluff or gamesmanship or trying to boost the stock of a certain player. That is how the NFL draft works on some level. But isn\u2019t it also possible that this could really happen? Or rather shouldn\u2019t we consider that possibility among all others? Adam Schefter discussed the idea of Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson specifically falling to 12 and the Cowboys having to make a decision.<\/p>\n
How He Fits on the Commanders: If there are any hints to what David Blough wants in the passing attack, the signing of Dyami Brown could point to a more vertical-style attack. That would benefit a player like Stribling who brings a unique body frame profile to the wide receiver room. Not only is De\u2019Zhaun a downfield specialist but also a willing run blocker. To reach his potential, the coaching staff will have to assist with his release package and his toughness. With coaching and natural ability, Stribling can be a future receiving playmaker and WR2 for the Commanders.<\/p>\n
Wide receivers \u201cin play\u201d \u2014 Sports Illustrated NFL insider Albert Breer believes wide receivers Jordyn Tyson of Arizona State and Carnell Tate of Ohio State are \u201cin play\u201d for the Giants with the fifth pick.<\/p>\n
Playoff. VJ. Edgecombe. The Sixers shocked the Boston Celtics with a 111-97 win in Game 2 Tuesday night, tying the series at 1-1. Tyrese Maxey had a much easier go of it, putting up 29 points and nine assists shooting 11-of-28 from the floor.
