Kiwanis, Holy Trinity host entertaining family event<\/p>\n
The Kiwanis Club of the Greater Northampton Area teamed up with Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church of Catasauqua for a fun painting, crafts and games event April 18. The event featured a Hawaiian theme with a festively decorated church social hall at 604 Fourth St.<\/p>\n
Northampton Kiwanis leaders Rob McCann, of Northampton, and Tom Harp, a longtime leader of the Allentown Kiwanis, welcomed kids and their families to the event. Other volunteer Kiwanis leaders and members staffed games and a basket raffle and served in the kitchen.<\/p>\n
Wendy Milhime, of North Catasauqua, and Janet Jackson, of Laurys Station, cheerfully staffed the kitchen to serve a light lunch. Jenner Schatz, of Rita\u2019s Italian Ice, was on hand to serve sweet treats for attendees.<\/p>\n
Crystal Messer, of Northampton, was popular at the event as she painted faces and attached temporary jewels. Kids lined up to have a heart or other nice item stenciled on their face or have an attractive jewel placed usually on a face cheek.<\/p>\n
The Lucky Duck pool was staffed by Kiwanis volunteer Mike MacNamara, of Bethlehem. Youth could pick a duck and possibly win a prize. Tom Harp oversaw the Ringo Flamingo game as kids enjoyed tossing a ring to win a prize. Kids also were treated to a jewelry-making table.<\/p>\n
Linda MacNamara, of Whitehall, helped coordinate the basket raffle as parents and others placed their purchased tickets in the hopes of winning a basket of their choice.<\/p>\n
Kiwanis International is a global volunteer organization founded in 1915. It is dedicated to improving children\u2019s lives, one community at a time. Members raise money through local fundraisers to support youth, focusing on leadership development and community service.<\/p>\n
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church also assists other organizations by teaming up or allowing groups to use their social hall to raise funds for themselves.<\/p>\n
