The Rochester Red Wings shut out the Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Wednesday, 2-0, to move to 12-11 on the season.<\/p>\n

The win, a bounce-back after a 7-1 loss on Tuesday, came courtesy of a five-man pitching effort that held the Yankees\u2019 affiliate to two hit son the night. Righty Chandler Champlain<\/a> went 4.2 innings in his second start and fourth appearance of the season, striking out five while allowing two hits. Jackson Rutledge<\/a> followed with 1.1 innings pitched, and then was relieved in turn for an inning each by Paxton Schultz<\/a>, Orlando Ribalta<\/a>, and Eddy Yean<\/a>. The Red Wings bullpen did not allow a hit over the 5.2 innings of work.<\/p>\n

Offensively, the Red Wings took the lead in the top of the fourth, when first baseman Yohandy Morales<\/a> led off with a double. \u201cYoyo\u201d then moved to third on a ground-out, and then third baseman Andres Chaparro<\/a> hit a grounder that was deflected by a rehabbing Anthony Volpe<\/a> at short before getting into left, allowing Morales to score and put the Wings up 1-0.<\/p>\n

The Wings added another in the top of the seventh, when right-fielder Andrew Pinckney<\/a> caught a 2-2 sweeper pitch from Kervin Castro<\/a> up high in the zone and rocketed it at 108.2 MPH over the center field wall for a 420-foot home run to make it 2-0.<\/p>\n

Although the Wings threatened again by getting a man to third in the eighth, the 2-0 score held to the end for the win.<\/p>\n

With the win, the Red Wings stand three games back of Memphis and Gwinnett for the International League first-half lead and one-back of Lehigh Valley for the IL East divisional lead.<\/p>\n

Rochester plays Scranton again on Thursday at 6:35 p.m., with righty Luis Perales<\/a> scheduled to go against right-handed Yankees\u2019 prospect Carlos Lagrange<\/a>.<\/p>\n
