BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. \u2013 From releasing more than 1,000 ladybugs to planting trees, Earth Day events were held across the Lehigh Valley.<\/p>\n
Preschool students in Bethlehem Township were buzzing with excitement this Earth Day.<\/p>\n
“It’s a ladybug kind of day here at Chesterbrook,” said Chesterbrook Academy Principal Ralph Guerrero. “We’ve got to teach these kids how much we appreciate the Earth and how to take care of it. The ladybugs help us do that.”<\/p>\n
The school on Emrick Boulevard released 1,500 ladybugs around the campus.<\/p>\n
“They take care of some of the other bugs that are harmful to some of the vegetation. Behind me, we just planted some vegetables and fruits for the season so they’ll take care of some of those bugs. The kids love it. They would be out here for hours if they could,” Guerrero explained.<\/p>\n
Over at the Rose Garden, Bethlehem South Nursing and Rehab dedicated a tree to the city.<\/p>\n
“Today the residents wanted to plant a tree at a local park to give back to the community and to the environment,” said John Lucas, Bethlehem South’s activities director.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, this Saturday, Northampton County Community College is holding an Earth Day event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the campus quad.<\/p>\n
“It’s a festival. It’s all day for Earth Day,” said musician Ian Holmes.<\/p>\n
