In a recent interview with 6abc\u2019s Alicia Vitarelli, Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, the stars of the upcoming The Devil Wears Prada 2 and 2006\u2019s The Devil Wears Prada, discussed their deep Philly roots. <\/p>\n
Hathaway\u2019s Philly ties are well-known<\/a>. <\/p>\n Her maternal grandfather, Joe McCauley \u2014 nicknamed the city\u2019s \u201cMorning Mayor\u201d \u2014 was one of WIP\u2019s most celebrated radio personalities. Her mother, Kate McCauley, was born in Philadelphia, attended Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Flourtown, and earned a musical theater scholarship to La Salle University. That\u2019s where she met her husband, Jerry Hathaway.<\/p>\n Despite growing up in New York and North Jersey, Anne Hathaway has her sports fandom right. Remember the viral clip of her rooting for the Eagles at Super Bowl LIX?<\/a><\/p>\n When Vitarelli told Hathaway that Philadelphia claims her, Hathaway didn\u2019t hold back. \u201cI feel claimed!\u201d she said with excitement. <\/p>\n But more surprising is that Streep, a well-known New Englander (although she was born in Summit, N.J.), also has Keystone State roots. As she said to Vitarelli, her ancestors are \u201call Philly.\u201d More specifically, Bucks County<\/a> \u2014 which just happens to be where one Anna Wintour\u2019s family tree also takes root. <\/p>\n Earlier this month, Ancestry.com confirmed that Streep and Wintour, the real-life inspiration for The Devil Wears Prada franchise\u2019s icy fashion editor, Miranda Priestly played by Streep, are, in fact, sixth cousins. Their shared fifth great-grandparents, Thomas Smith and Elizabeth Kinsey, lived in Bucks County in the late 1700s.<\/p>\n
