Temperatures are expected to drop this weekend in the Lehigh Valley while widespread rain comes to the area.<\/p>\n
About an inch of rain could fall late Friday night into Saturday in the region, and high temperatures will likely drop into the 50s, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey.<\/p>\n
Forecasters said rain could linger into Sunday, but that day should be mostly dry. Temperatures will return to the 60s Sunday through Wednesday, and there is a chance of more rain again next week.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy early next week, we trend warmer than the weekend,\u201d meteorologists wrote Thursday in their daily forecast discussion.<\/a> \u201cMonday is looking dry with our next system approaching Monday night and bringing rain showers to the area into midweek.\u201d<\/p>\n Any rain that falls would be beneficial. Lehigh and Northampton counties remain under moderate drought conditions<\/a>, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. Rainfall totals have been about 4 inches below normal for both counties over the past six months<\/a>, weather service data states.<\/p>\n Temperatures should reach the upper 60s and 70s next Thursday and Friday. Here is the extended forecast from the National Weather Service:<\/p>\n Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.<\/p>\n Saturday: Showers. High near 52. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.<\/p>\n Sunday: A chance of showers before 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Chance of precipitation is 30%.<\/p>\n Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 64.<\/p>\n Tuesday: Showers. High near 62. Chance of precipitation is 80%.<\/p>\n Wednesday: A chance of showers.
