READING, Pa. \u2013 The Berks County Commissioners voted Thursday to award a $734,714 contract to J. Phillips Excavating, Lenhartsville, for the replacement of the Berks Road Bridge.<\/p>\n
The project involves the removal and replacement of the existing Berks Road Bridge, which is over an unnamed tributary to Plum Creek.<\/p>\n
The existing structure will be replaced with a cast-in-place culvert.<\/p>\n
The bridge in Bern Township is owned by the county and is a main access to Camp Joy, near Leesport.<\/p>\n
In other business, the commissioners appointed:<\/p>\n
John Moser as assistant director of Workforce Development Board, effective May 13 at an annual salary of $97,000.<\/p>\n
Stephanie Smith to Interim Warden at the County Jail, effective May 8 at an annual rate of $118,560.<\/p>\n
Julia Levan as assistant public defender in the Public Defender\u2019s Office, effective May 6 at an annual salary of $68,500.<\/p>\n
Sally Blondet Mojica, Reading, to the Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority and the South Central Transit to fill an unexpired term ending on Dec. 31, 2028.<\/p>\n
Tabitha Kramer, Mohrsville, to the Berks County Children and Youth Services Advisory Board to fill an unexpired term ending on Dec. 31, 2027.<\/p>\n
