{"id":174330,"date":"2026-04-23T23:04:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T23:04:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/174330\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T23:04:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T23:04:07","slug":"pittsburgh-mall-officially-sold-latest-on-possible-wegmans-location-there","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/174330\/","title":{"rendered":"Pittsburgh Mall Officially Sold; Latest On Possible Wegmans Location There"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PITTSBURGH, PA \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/roadsidedevelopment.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Roadside Development<\/a>, a Washington, D.C.\u2013based real estate investment and development firm known for its retail-driven, mixed-use and adaptive reuse projects, on Thursday announced the acquisition of the Galleria in Mount Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition fuels growing speculation that the site will become a second Wegmans supermarket in Western Pennsylvania, but no official announcement has been made yet.<\/p>\n<p>Wegmans, the supermarket chain known for its customer service, restaurant foods and one-stop shopping, has plans to open a 115,000-square foot store in Cranberry next year. It will be the chain&#8217;s first venture into the Pittsburgh market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPittsburgh is a natural next step for Roadside as we expand beyond the D.C. region,\u201d Roadside Development president Jeff Edelstein said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cWe\u2019ve built our platform around developing and repositioning retail properties; our focus now is on taking a thoughtful, measured approach as we evaluate the property\u2019s long-term potential. We\u2019re excited to establish a presence in the market and explore additional opportunities over time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Galleria, an approximately 168,000-square-foot, two-story shopping center originally was constructed as a Kaufmann\u2019s department store. It was converted into an indoor shopping mall in 1988.<\/p>\n<p>Roadside said its plans for the property &#8220;are currently in development.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the near term, there will be no changes to the Galleria\u2019s operations or its tenant mix.
