Franklin\n              <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelers.com\/\" id=\"link-680aaa38675fa05efe03f8f6d8977176\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> took Arizona State offensive tackle Max Iheanachor with the 21st overall pick in the NFL draft Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">They sat pat during a sometimes-confounding first 20 picks \u2014 including the Las Angeles Rams taking Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Pittsburgh had been tied to several linemen and receivers in mock drafts for weeks. They ultimately went lineman, with a two-year starter ranked the No. 7 OT in the draft by The Athletic. He\u2019s got lots of athletic ability but scouts believe he needs more technical refinement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">It\u2019s a good fit for a team that already has starters Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu entrenched at the bookends, although injury issues with Jones put his 2026 season in question.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">North Catholic\u2019s Simon Sharpless and Seneca Valley\u2019s Madi Barnyk were on stage as winners of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.butlereagle.com\/20260420\/these-seneca-valley-north-catholic-flag-football-stars-will-be-at-the-nfl-draft-for-the-steelers-p\/\" id=\"link-28d078126041d3d271fa0b7339441fc0\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jerome Bettis Leadership Award<\/a> when NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced the pick.<\/p>\n<p>        <a class=\"related-article\" href=\"https:\/\/www.butlereagle.com\/20260420\/these-seneca-valley-north-catholic-flag-football-stars-will-be-at-the-nfl-draft-for-the-steelers-p\/\" title=\"These Seneca Valley, North Catholic flag football stars will be at the NFL draft for the Steelers\u2019 pick\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>            Related Article: These Seneca Valley, North Catholic flag football stars will be at the NFL draft for the Steelers\u2019 pick<\/p>\n<p>    <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Raiders take QB Fernando Mendoza No. 1 as expected<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Fernando Mendoza\u2019s journey from overlooked two-star recruit to the top of the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/live\/nfl-draft-2026-picks?version=1776989088711\" id=\"link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL draft<\/a> is complete after the Las Vegas Raiders took him with the first pick.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Turning the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/las-vegas-raiders\" id=\"link-df3834d1498b05d71b97a7589fa97597\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Raiders<\/a> into a contender is the next challenge for the Heisman Trophy winner who led Indiana to its first national championship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/nfl-draft-mendoza-a659fea1b789eed91c3fd758ec68acc9\" id=\"link-7c023147eefa64dd293abdd89aba4547\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">22-year-old quarterback<\/a> wasn\u2019t in the Steel City for the festivities, choosing instead to celebrate with family and friends at home in Miami.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">\u201cThe last five months have been such a blessing by God, and I can\u2019t thank Him enough,&#8221; Mendoza said. &#8220;I\u2019m just looking forward to get to work, prove it at the next level. College was fantastic. I\u2019m so blessed to have that career, but now I step into a great game, the NFL. The Browns also had a pick at 24.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Cincinnati previously traded away No. 10 to the Giants for DT Dexter Lawrence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">The Ravens took Penn State guard Olaivavega Ioane at No. 14.<\/p>\n<p>Other highlights from the first 10 picks<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">The intrigue began at No. 2 with the New York Jets, who selected Texas Tech <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/jets-nfl-draft-c21f6f5a763224e8759fdf66b6c5cd6b\" id=\"link-0ff311b1637e7c442c76b046ff136539\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">edge rusher David Bailey<\/a> over Ohio State edge Arvell Reese.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">\u201cIt\u2019s surreal to me,&#8221; Bailey said. &#8220;It\u2019s an awesome opportunity. I just want to get in there and be a sponge and soak up everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Arizona took Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love with the third pick. Love is the highest-drafted running back since Saquon Barkley went No. 2 to the New York Giants in 2018.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate was picked fourth by Tennessee in a surprise move that gives QB Cam Ward \u2014 last year\u2019s No. 1 overall pick \u2014 a top target.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">The Giants took Reese at No. 5, adding a potential elite rusher less than a week after trading three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to Cincinnati. New York then added offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa from Miami at No. 10.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">The Chiefs traded up to No. 6 to take LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane.
