{"id":174637,"date":"2026-04-24T06:52:06","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T06:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/174637\/"},"modified":"2026-04-24T06:52:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T06:52:06","slug":"philadelphia-museum-of-art-previews-rocky-exhibit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/174637\/","title":{"rendered":"Philadelphia Museum of Art previews &#8220;Rocky&#8221; exhibit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao MvWXB TjIXL aGjvy ebVHC \">PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) &#8212; The Philadelphia Museum of Art hosted a preview of a new exhibition focused on the Rocky statue at the base of the museum&#8217;s steps.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The exhibition is titled, &#8220;Rising Up: Rocky and the Making of Monuments.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">It is timed to coincide with the nation&#8217;s 250th anniversary and the 50th anniversary release of the &#8220;Rocky&#8221; film.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">A talk on Thursday featured guest curator, Paul Farber, and Jacqui Frazier- Lyde, daughter of boxing great, Joe Frazier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">A statue of Smokin&#8217; Joe will move to the base of the Art Museum steps, where Rocky once stood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Frazier-Lyde said Sylvester Stallone based some of his iconic film series on her father.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">The exhibit opens to the public on Saturday, April 25th.<br class=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2026 WPVI-TV.
