Bloom Room owner Wendy Straker has done floral arrangements for Netflix.<\/p>\n

Bloom Room Easton is providing a modern New York floral event-planning service minus the New York prices.<\/p>\n

\u201cCome in, rent the event space, have your event,\u201d owner Wendy Straker said. \u201cYou tell me what sort of decor you want, I will facilitate that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Originally operating a New York City-based floral event-planning business \u2014 while commuting from Easton\u00a0\u2014 Straker said she grew tired. Rather than wilting and wasting away, she looked for a place closer to her neck of the woods to root her floral expertise. Eventually, the Bloom Room took hold, and with a little bit more water and love, it will be ready to let the light in. The grand opening is on April 30.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful space,\u201d said Easton City Council member Crystal Rose, who was present at an event for Easton businesses hosted Tuesday at Bloom Room. \u201cI\u2019m really excited for what they\u2019re planning to do here.\u201d<\/p>\n

The space is gearing up to host all types of events: baby showers, birthday parties, book clubs or any impromptu social. Straker highlighted her goal of establishing a community space to hang out in between events, with an open-door policy of sorts.<\/p>\n

With contracts still active from her past venture, Bloom Room\u2019s selection of flowers is harvested from faraway gardens in Costa Rica, Ecuador and Colombia.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition to that, we have really cool gadgets,\u201d she said, referencing their 360-degree photobooths, large mirror cameras and big, blue mechanical flowers that whir open and close.<\/p>\n

While Bloom Room is still finalizing, there is no shortage of support from its fellow local businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s almost like a new student at school, and all the businesses are very welcome,\u201d said Julie VanOsdol, the manager of Easton Main Street Initiative. \u201cI told Wendy, \u2018You will be immediately welcomed into the whole downtown vibe.\u2019 We have a really tight-knit family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt looks really welcoming and inviting,\u201d said owner of Launch Pad Bikes Jimmy Madden, after a preview of the budding interior. \u201cIt\u2019s bright, you wanna come in, have a party.\u201d<\/p>\n
