Freya de Conde, the current assistant principal at Allentown\u2019s Sheridan Elementary School, has been named the principal of Union Terrace Elementary School. She will assume her new duties on July 1.<\/p>\n
A graduate of Allen High School, de Conde has \u201cdeveloped a systematic attendance intervention process aimed at increasing daily attendance,\u201d the district said in a press release.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m excited to just continue in my journey here and work with the students,\u201d de Conde told The Morning Call, saying she\u2019s \u201cvery, very excited\u201d to continue to build student support systems.<\/p>\n
The new principal began her education career as a Teach for America Corps member in St. Louis. She worked as an English teacher, English department chair and interim assistant principal at Salisbury High School.<\/p>\n
She\u2019s also worked at the district level, serving as a network improvement community supervisor of instruction for the Allentown School District.<\/p>\n
In addition, de Conde is an adjunct professor at DeSales University.
