L. MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. – The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office identified a 22-year-old man from Coopersburg who died after a\u00a0car and\u00a0tractor-trailer collided\u00a0on I-78 in Lower Macungie Township.<\/p>\n
Ryan W. Gretz was driving the car that was involved in the crash,\u00a0the\u00a0Lehigh County Coroner’s Office\u00a0said in a news release.<\/p>\n
It happened in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 54 Thursday night. That’s between the exit for Route 100 and Route 222.<\/p>\n
The coroner says he was dispatched to the scene just before midnight. Shortly after, he declared the man dead on the scene.<\/p>\n
The cause of death is multiple blunt force injuries, and the manner of death is accident, according to the\u00a0coroner’s office.<\/p>\n
“The\u00a0Lehigh County Coroner’s Office extends its deepest condolences to Mr. Gretz’s family, as well as to all those impacted by this tragic incident,” the coroner’s office said.<\/p>\n
His 21-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital,\u00a0Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.<\/p>\n
The tractor-trailer’s driver was not injured, state police said.<\/p>\n
The roadway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.\u00a0<\/p>\n
State police say the case remains under investigation.
