PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 A Philadelphia teenager was praised as a hero on Friday by city first responders and officials for saving a woman\u2019s life.<\/p>\n
Last month, 17-year-old Jaheim Warner was walking home after a baseball game at Tacony Academy Charter High School when he saw a white truck slowly rolling down Tulip Street, just blocks away from his school. A woman inside the vehicle was having a seizure. <\/p>\n
\u201cI went into action and asked, \u2018What can I do?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
That\u2019s when he started to rummage through trash cans and found a pipe. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I banged the window a couple of times until it broke,\u201d he said. Then, he climbed through the tiny window in the back and put the truck in park. <\/p>\n
\u201cI told her I was going to stay with her and wasn\u2019t going to leave her until the ambulance came.\u201d <\/p>\n
Medics took her to the hospital, where she\u2019s still recovering. Her family visited Warner to thank him for his efforts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey gave me a couple of gift cards and a Bryce Harper jersey.\u201d Harper is his favorite Phillies player. <\/p>\n
During a school assembly on Friday, police, fire and state representatives gave him certificates of bravery. Next week, he\u2019ll receive another honor: the Citizen First Responder Award for 2026. <\/p>\n
