{"id":175208,"date":"2026-04-24T20:43:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T20:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/175208\/"},"modified":"2026-04-24T20:43:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T20:43:19","slug":"day-2-of-the-2026-nfl-draft-is-underway-in-pittsburgh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/175208\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft is underway in Pittsburgh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s the second day of the 2026 NFL Draft, with the second round set to get underway at 7 p.m. on Pittsburgh\u2019s North Shore.<\/p>\n<p>The first day of the event <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wesa.fm\/sports\/2026-04-23\/2026-nfl-draft-starts-pittsburgh\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">saw an estimated attendance of 320,000 people<\/a>, according to the NFL \u2014 a record number for the first night of a draft.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the Steelers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wesa.fm\/sports\/2026-04-23\/steelers-iheanachor-nfl-draft-first-round\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">selected Arizona State offensive tackle Max Iheanachor<\/a> with the 21st overall pick. But overall they said the draft has been good for business. <\/p>\n<p>Hussain said he initially expected even larger crowds after hearing projections of hundreds of thousands of attendees, before realizing those estimates were spread across the draft\u2019s three days.<\/p>\n<p>Still, he said, the event has so far been positive for the restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been really good,\u201d Hussain said. \u201cWe\u2019ve got a good amount of sales, a lot of foot traffic coming down in Market Square.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that many of the customers appearing so far seem to be visitors rather than locals, an observation consistent with the expectation that some Pittsburgh residents would stay away from Downtown during draft weekend to avoid the crowds and traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Viral clip suggests Eagles may have jumped Steelers for intended first-round pick<\/p>\n<p>Day two of the 2026 NFL Draft got underway Friday morning with drama in Pittsburgh, where it appeared that the Steelers&#8217; first-round pick Thursday night may not have been the player the team originally wanted to draft.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Schultz_Report\/status\/2047670063801536565\/video\/1?s=46\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Footage emerged<\/a> of University of Southern California wide receiver Makai Lemon on the phone with Steelers general manager Omar Khan Thursday night, while the Dallas Cowboys were on the clock at pick #20 \u2014 one slot ahead of the Steelers. Lemon\u2019s family was jumping for joy when the call came through.<\/p>\n<p>The footage cuts to Lemon on the phone with Khan, only for Lemon to say: \u201cWhy\u2019s Philly calling?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It appeared the Steelers were planning to draft Lemon, only to lose the opportunity when the Philadelphia Eagles traded with the Cowboys to jump into the 20th slot and tap Lemon \u2014 apparently denying the Steelers their intended choice.
