A 32-year-old Thornhurst Twp. man assaulted his brother Tuesday morning, state police said.<\/p>\n
State police responded to 103 Magnolia Drive around 10:09 a.m. for the report of a physical domestic dispute between brothers, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
The victim, Kshawn Ballard, noted he was choked and that his brother, Keyshaun Ballard, left the scene, police said.<\/p>\n
Kshawn Ballard told Trooper Lukasz Olszar that his brother \u2014 who had been released from Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton the night before after being admitted for an involuntary mental health evaluation on April 14 \u2014 was acting erratically and threatened to vandalize his vehicle in the driveway, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
When Kshawn Ballard told his brother to stop threatening him, Keyshaun Ballard placed his hands around Kshawn\u2019s neck and choked him for five to 10 seconds, cutting off his breathing, police said.<\/p>\n
Kshawn Ballard eventually broke free from the chokehold and subdued his brother, who then fled the residence on an e-bike, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
Troopers later found Keyshaun Ballard near the Pinewood Deli, near Arrowhead Lake, and took him into custody, police said.<\/p>\n
Police charged Keyshaun Ballard, 103 Magnolia Drive, with strangulation, harassment and simple assault.<\/p>\n
After his arraignment Tuesday, Keyshaun Ballard was sent to Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
