The Pittsburgh Steelers got scooped<\/a> for a wideout in the first round on Thursday night, but they leaped up in the second to snag a pass catcher one day later.<\/p>\n

The Steelers selected Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard<\/a> at No. 47 overall on Friday night in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

In order to do so, they acquired the 47th selection along with No. 249 from the Indianapolis Colts for picks 53, 135 and 237.<\/p>\n

“They should be excited,” Bernard said, via team transcript, of his message to Steelers fans. “They’re getting a selfless guy that is going to do everything for the team to have success. He’s just a guy that’s explosive with the ball in his hands. A guy that can create plays and, like I said at the beginning, just a selfless teammate.”<\/p>\n

With questions still swirling around Aaron Rodgers<\/a>‘ future, Pittsburgh added a potential signal-caller of the future to pair with Bernard one round later by selecting<\/a> Penn State quarterback Drew Allar<\/a> at No. 76 overall.<\/p>\n

A tough wideout who runs excellent routes, Bernard is a versatile receiver who brings solid size and quickness after the catch to the Steelers offense.
