(WJET\/WFXP)\u2013 PennDOT is inviting the public to check out thier plans to replace an old pipe under Mercer Pike in Crawford County that acts as a tributary for French Creek.<\/p>\n

PennDOT plans on replacing the pipe during this year\u2019s construction season, which they said has reached the end of its life, with a concrete one that would require an 8-mile detour for about a month on Mercer Pike, which runs adjacent to Interstate 79 in Union Township.<\/p>\n

PennDOT\u2019s plans also include repairing and paving the roadway and updating the guide rail, including an 8-mile detour using Wilson Shute Road, Route 322, Linden Street, Route 6, and Kennedy Hill Road (SR 3025). Some of that work would be done with lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.<\/p>\n

The pipe itself is located under Mercer Pike between the intersection with Wilson Chutes Road (Route 2008) and the intersection with Krider Road (Route 3025), detailed in the map below.<\/p>\n
