Drew Allar<\/a> played college football at Penn State.<\/p>\n

Now, he’s going to play in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After the Steelers took Allar with the 76th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the QB opened upon about getting picked by the historic franchise.<\/p>\n

“It was just a lot of anticipation kind of throughout the day and in the last couple of weeks, honestly, but very excited for the opportunity I have to be a Pittsburgh Steeler,” Allar said. “It’s definitely a dream come true to play for such a great organization and fulfill my dream of having the opportunity to play in the NFL.”<\/p>\n

Allar played in 45 games for Penn State. He finished with 7,402 passing yards, 61 passing touchdowns and 13 interceptions while completing 63.2% of his passes.<\/p>\n

Allar grew up a Cleveland Browns<\/a> fans, so it’s pretty ironic that he’s now playing for the Steelers, one of the Browns’ biggest rivals.<\/p>\n

“I guess that’s kind of gone out the window right now,” Allar said with a laugh. “But I’m very excited to be a Steeler. … Honestly, at my time at Penn State, I got a lot more familiar with, obviously the whole state of PA, but especially Pittsburgh<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I know how serious the culture is around sports in Pittsburgh and how much pride the fans take in all the pro teams.”<\/p>\n

NFL analyst Damian Parson of Bleacher Report<\/a> wrote up his scouting report for Allar and Parson compared Allar to “Daniel Jones<\/a> with Joe Flacco<\/a>‘s arm talent.”<\/p>\n

“Allar has immense arm talent and strength,” Parson wrote. “He generates outstanding velocity and RPMs on those with little to no effort. Allar is a pocket-style quarterback who excels on drive throws and can fit passes into tight windows. He can make every throw in the book.<\/p>\n

“Inconsistent mechanics continue to be an issue. He needs to refine his footwork to throw from clean and sound bases. His accuracy and ball placement suffer due to a lack of focus on his footwork. Allar needs to throw with his body aligned with his intended target more often.”<\/p>\n

The Steelers don’t know if Aaron Rodgers<\/a> will return to the team. Rodgers finished with 3,322 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2025. He completed 65.7% of his passes.<\/p>\n

The Steelers won the AFC North last season but lost to the Houston Texans<\/a> in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. Mike Tomlin stepped down as head coach and Mike McCarthy was hired.<\/p>\n
