Bob Ide, Fox56 sports Director says, Well just over a month ago, Bryan was leading the University of Scranton Lady Royals into the national championship game, where they finished second in the country. But today, he’s introduced as the new women’s coach at Lafayette College in Easton, Division one and first Ben,. Congratulations. Obviously, this is a big step off for you but was does it mean to you today to be introduced. “

Ben O’Brien answers “ It means everything, I’m just incredibly grateful that Lafayette has put their trust in me to lead the women’s basketball program. I’m really excited about what I think we can do here. And with all that being said, I just had such a great experience at Scranton. I can’t thank the Scranton community enough for everything that they’ve done for me the administration, our assistant coaches and especially our players. It’s just that it was a special group. It was it was a special experience for me. And that’s helped me get ready for the next challenge.

For people that don’t know, he was once a teacher at Dunmore High School. You led the Dunmore Lady Bucks to a great record, then University Scranton you only lost seven games. Is this always been in the cards? Just something you always dreamed of or wanted to coach in Division one?

O’Brien says“ Not really. I just whatever job I have, I’m just trying to do the best I can, put everything I have into it and take opportunities as they come. So, this was an opportunity that was that was just very exciting to me. And, you know, I’m ready to put everything I have into it.

What’s the biggest challenge you think you’re going to face?

O’Brien responds”I think the biggest challenge is you’re meeting a brand-new team. You’re the colleagues and people you’re working with on a daily basis, all new. So just building the relationships that I think are a prerequisite to any kind of success takes time. So, I just got anxious and excited to get going on those types of things.

Well, this is this is a team that has won double digits in a long time. But their best years back in near Covid. So what do you have to do first to establish something like winning just like you did at the University of Scranton?

O’Brien. answers, “Yeah, I think it’s the first and foremost building that championship culture. And it’s going to start with building great relationships with our players, communicating them, communicating with them in an effective way, and then putting them in positions to be successful on the court.

I think, you know, once we do all of those things, which we will not only have a championship team, we’ll have a championship program.

Do you think your coaching style doesn’t matter where you coach it? You’re tough on defense and obviously offense is what it is. So do you think your coaching style can be established here “

O’Brien. says “Yeah, I do. I’m going to just be myself and coach them the best way I can, and I’m excited about that opportunity.

We’re excited for you, the brand-new coach at Lafayette and women’s basketball in Easton that’s Ben O’Brien.

Bob Ide, Fox56 sports Director says, Well just over a month ago, Bryan was leading the University of…

[15
178,180,179
post-177910","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-scranton","tag-scranton","tag-scranton-headlines","tag-scranton-news
["GET
