A petition<\/a> opposing the cameras has gathered more than 400 signatures, and organizers say they plan to attend today\u2019s meeting to voice their objections.<\/p>\n\u201cI have mixed emotions about it,\u201d said Millcreek resident Linda Ley. \u201cI understand the reason behind it, but then again, there\u2019s the issue of privacy\u2026 I still don\u2019t like it.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a statement, Millcreek Township said the cameras are privately owned and were installed by the mall\u2019s property owner at no cost to the township. Officials said they remain committed to transparency and encourage residents to attend public meetings or reach out with questions.<\/p>\n
Reactions from the community remain mixed. Some residents say the cameras offer an added layer of security.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think they\u2019re really good,\u201d said Erie resident Brian Rawa. \u201cIt captures people from doing stuff\u2026 you can\u2019t really run and hide anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n
Others say the system doesn\u2019t bother them, even as debate continues.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t really bother me either way,\u201d said Erie resident Haley Wright. \u201cI know some people are mad about it, some people like me \u2014 it just doesn\u2019t bother me.\u201d<\/p>\n
