SCRANTON, LACKWANNA CO. (WOLF) — UPDATE: From the Scranton School District, the secure has been lifted at both Prescott and Northeast Intermediate. Students at Prescott will be dismissed at this time. We ask that students not walk home alone at dismissal and that parents pick students up at their bus stop if possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience at this time.

A Scranton school was placed on secure status, and student dismissal was delayed due to police activity in the area, according to school officials.

In a message to families, Prescott Elementary School said all students are safe, but dismissal is being held until further notice as an active police investigation continues nearby.

Officials said buses are currently being held at John G. Whittier Elementary School, and students will not be released until authorities determine it is safe to do so.

Parents are being asked not to come to the school at this time, as no dismissals are being allowed.
