Atlanta \u2014 Tigers\u2019 No. 7-rated prospect (MLB Pipeline) Thayron Liranzo is finally getting his 2026 season started.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old catcher-first baseman who strained his oblique at the end of spring training, has been activated and assigned to Double-A Erie.<\/p>\n

Thayron Liranzo, a 22-year-old catcher-first baseman who strained his oblique at the end of spring training, has been activated and assigned to Double-A Erie.<\/p>\n

After dominating the Arizona Fall League in 2024 (.375 average, 1.158 OPS), he struggled at the plate in Double-A last season (31% strikeout rate). But he came to big-league camp having completely transformed his body and his hitting approach.<\/p>\n

He went 8 for 17 in his rehab stint at Low-A Lakeland.<\/p>\n

Tigers\u2019 No. 4-rated prospect Josue Brice\u00f1o, also a catcher-first baseman, is still on the minor league injured list, recovering from wrist surgery<\/p>\n
