Pittsburgh Steelers long snapper Cal Adomitis<\/a> will wear No. 57 for the black and gold this season. He wore No. 48 for the Steelers last season after being signed late in the season. He signed a reserve\/future contract with the club in January. <\/p>\n

Adomitis, a Central Catholic and Pitt product, has played in 58 games during his career, including 49 with one of the Steelers\u2019 AFC North rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals. He appeared in nine contests for the Philadelphia Eagles before being waived in early December.<\/p>\n

Adomitis was signed to the Steelers\u2019 practice squad and joined in on its indoor session on Friday, Dec. 19. The Steelers\u2019 usual long snapper, Christian Kuntz, landed on the injury report with a knee ailment on Thursday and was listed as questionable for his team\u2019s matchup with the Detroit Lions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got the call yesterday. I was actually in Arizona for a workout,\u201d Adomitis said in December. \u201cAnd I got the call from my agent (saying), \u2018Hey, you\u2019re flying back to Pittsburgh.\u2019 So I got back here late last night, and came in this morning, went through the whole physical process and (I\u2019m) just waiting to see what the deal is for Sunday and staying ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adomitis<\/a> and Kuntz are training partners in the summer. The former said it\u2019s \u201clike a weird fever dream being out there both in a Steelers uniform practicing. It was definitely a funny day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Getting up to speed, Adomitis added, is part of being a professional. Long snapper terminology and schemes don\u2019t vary much from place to place. As for the sudden change, returning from the desert to a snowy Steel City, he accepts it all as part of the job.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve gotta keep the perspective that that\u2019s kinda part of the fun in it, and just enjoy the process,\u201d Adomitis said. \u201cMy job doesn\u2019t really change no matter where I am, so I\u2019m ready to go if I\u2019m called. I\u2019m just trying to enjoy the ride and enjoy being in the black and gold.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adomitis was not elevated to the 53-man roster for the final three regular-season games or the Wild Card round game.<\/p>\n

During his senior year at Pitt, Adomitis raised over $114,000 in 2021 to donate towards the Children\u2019s Hospital of Pittsburgh<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Adomitis said cutting off his hair to raise money<\/a> for Children\u2019s was his way of giving back.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe actual idea grew from something I used to joke around with my old roommates about. When I first grew my hair long, they were like, \u2018how much would it cost for us to cut your hair?\u2019 Coming into this year, with the excitement around this team, I thought we could really capitalize on that to raise money for a great cause and then shave it off at the end after doing something good,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

PITTSBURGH STEELERS TO WEAR NO. 57<\/p>\n

Steelers linebacker Mark Robinson<\/a> was the last Steeler to wear No. 57, donning it briefly in 2025. Before Robinson, nose tackle Montravius Adams<\/a> wore the number from 2021-24, and fellow long snapper Kameron Canaday wore the digits from 2017-20.<\/p>\n

Guard Sam Davis<\/a> and linebacker Mike Merriweather are the most notable past Steelers players<\/a> to have worn No. 57.<\/p>\n
