Closed without warning.<\/p>\n
BBQ restaurant chain Smokey Bones has shuttered all three of its remaining Western Pennsylvania locations. According to the restaurant\u2019s website, all locations across the country are now closed.<\/p>\n
Employees at the Cranberry Township spot tell Channel 11 they were blindsided.<\/p>\n
\u201cI kind of wish we\u2019d have gotten a little heads up. It\u2019s kind of out of the blue,\u201d Maleah Leduke said. Her shift was scheduled to start at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s really upsetting,\u201d she said. \u201cI woke up this morning to the news, drove here and it\u2019s real. There\u2019s a sign on the door. \u2018Closed forever.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were on a field trip today and I got a text in the group chat,\u201d Toni Baker said. She is getting ready to graduate from high school and has worked at Smokey Bones for two years.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were like, \u2018It\u2019s been nice, but now we\u2019re shut down.\u2019 I thought it was a joke, at first,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the end of a process that\u2019s been going on for some time. We told you in January that the Robinson location had suddenly closed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe kind of knew it would be happening soon and we probably wouldn\u2019t get a warning but I never thought it would be this soon,\u201d Toni said.<\/p>\n
We have reached out to parent company \u201cFAT Brands\u201d about the closures. We have not heard back.<\/p>\n
A manager cut us off mid-interview with Toni Baker.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo. Uh uh. No one can talk to the media. Stop. Cut it. Everyone inside,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Other local restaurants have reached out to employees regarding job opportunities.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s unclear what\u2019ll happen to the buildings. Some around the country have been converted to other FAT Brand restaurants.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s more about everyone leaving each other. There\u2019s people who have worked here so long and we all really love each other,\u201d Leduke said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel really sad for all the people who enjoyed coming here. I know we had a lot of regulars,\u201d Baker said.<\/p>\n
