South\u00a0Side Bethlehem is getting a new hotel that will be within walking distance of ArtsQuest<\/a>\u00a0and Lehigh University.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n High Hotels Ltd.<\/a>, a subsidiary of High Real Estate Group, broke ground Tuesday on\u00a0the construction of\u00a0a new Tempo by Hilton<\/a> hotel\u00a0aimed at\u00a0the city\u2019s growing arts and tourism district.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n Located at 36 W. Third Street, directly across from ArtsQuest\u2019s Creative Factory, the 140-room hotel will\u00a0be\u00a0tailored to modern business and leisure travelers, the company said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The hotel is expected to open in October 2027 and will create more than 50 new jobs in the region.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \u201cThis groundbreaking reflects the continued momentum of\u00a0South\u00a0Side\u00a0Bethlehem as a destination for culture, events, and economic growth,\u201d said David Aungst,\u00a0president of High Hotels Ltd. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to bring Tempo by Hilton to this location, creating a hotel that complements the energy of ArtsQuest while meeting growing demand for high-quality accommodations in the district.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n The\u00a0project will be constructed by\u00a0High\u00a0Construction Company. Greenfield Architects<\/a> served as the project architect, while High Associates<\/a> managed the land development. All are subsidiaries of the High companies.\u00a0<\/p>\n Guestrooms\u00a0features will include 65-inch streaming-enabled televisions, mini refrigerators, and Bluetooth-enabled bathroom mirrors with integrated speakers. Select rooms will offer in-room Peloton bikes and wellness accessories, while six suites will provide\u00a0additional\u00a0space for extended stays, featuring full kitchens and separate living areas.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n The hotel will include more than\u00a01,500 square feet\u00a0of flexible meeting space for corporate gatherings and community events. A rooftop bar overlooking the\u00a0South\u00a0Side\u00a0and SteelStacks area will create a new destination for guests and\u00a0local residents\u00a0alike. An outdoor patio along the Bethlehem Greenway will provide direct connectivity to the surrounding neighborhood.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n The property will feature an expanded fitness center on the seventh floor with Peloton equipment.
