When school gets out in the summer, high school students are often looking for activities to do, and the United Way of Erie County is helping kids keep busy<\/p>\n

The organization held its first Summer Programming and Resource Fair at Erie\u2019s Public Schools\u2019 Erie High.<\/p>\n

Local high schoolers experience real financial situations in simulation <\/a><\/p>\n

During their four lunch periods, students were able to chat with local organizations about opportunities to keep them engaged while school is out.<\/p>\n

The community school director, Glen Conner, said their goal is to increase student awareness.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo many kids tell us there\u2019s nothing to do in the city, there\u2019s nothing going on in the summer, and I just want to show them, there\u2019s more than you may think. We have a lot of variety of programs. We\u2019ve got art, we\u2019ve got science, we\u2019ve got urban university, the library, we have scouts in our career explorers here. So, a big variety of different programs that we have that are local, some of them are free,\u201d said Conner.<\/p>\n

Conner said this also opens the students up to networking and career opportunities.<\/p>\n
