{"id":180242,"date":"2026-04-30T13:16:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T13:16:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/180242\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T13:16:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T13:16:11","slug":"man-pleads-guilty-to-shooting-woman-dumping-body-in-trash-can","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/180242\/","title":{"rendered":"Man pleads guilty to shooting woman, dumping body in trash can"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 A 61-year-old man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to killing a woman and dumping her body in a trash can in West Philadelphia last year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.audacy.com\/kywnewsradio\/news\/local\/man-arrested-womans-body-found-trash-west-philadelphia\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ricardo Ponds<\/a> admitted to shooting Deborah Leatherberry in the head in January 2025, then putting her body in a garbage bin in Lucein Blackwell Park, near 47th Street and Fairmount Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>Someone who worked in the park discovered the 54-year-old victim\u2019s body.
