HANOVER TWP., Pa. – A company that makes equipment for the semiconductor industry is announcing layoffs in Lehigh County.<\/p>\n
That’s according to a notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor in accordance with the WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Act.<\/p>\n
The notice says Advantest Inc. is laying off 55 workers at its facility at 1660 E. Race Street, which is outside Allentown in Hanover Township.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It’s unclear how many employees are at the site, but the WARN notice says “the entire workforce is not being terminated.”<\/p>\n
The layoffs will take effect by June 30. The company noted that eight employees requested to move to different locations, and their count was included in the overall total of 55.<\/p>\n
According to Advantest’s website, the Race Street location is part of R&D Altanova Inc., a subsidiary that was acquired in 2021.<\/p>\n
Altanova also has three offices in South Plainfield, New Jersey; the company designs, manufactures, and sells test interface boards.<\/p>\n
