MT. PENN BOROUGH, Pa. – A former Mt. Penn Borough council member accused of rape and sexual assault has been found not guilty of most of the charges against him.<\/p>\n
Roger Stief Jr., who was charged last year with thirty counts of rape, sexual assault, indecent assault and related offenses, was found not guilty by a jury this week of nearly all charges, with the exception of two counts of simple assault.<\/p>\n
Stief was initially charged with raping and physically assaulting a female victim known to him on several occasions, beginning in October 2024.<\/p>\n
Stief was sentenced to 6 to 23 months in county jail with credit for 221 days served, followed by two years’ probation.<\/p>\n
According to records, Stief was sworn in as a council member in 2022 and his resignation was unanimously accepted at the July 29, 2025 council business meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"MT.
